Despite some less than stellar reviews in the past couple days, people are still desperate to get their hands on the new Blackberry Storm 9530.

Here in New York City, lines were around the corner at many stores the day of its launch.  Stores quickly sold out and customers were forced to return another day.  Inventory levels are getting better, but you may still have problems getting your hands on on in your area.

Buying them online may be the best way to go.

Pros: It’s a touch screen baby!  For the Crackberry business adicits, the day has finally arrived where you don’t have to feel inferior to your iPhone packing coworkers.  The “click” tactile feeling is pretty nice if touch screen typing isn’t necessarily your thing.  Has some additional options and features.  Full media (audio and video) abilities.  The Internet Browser seems to load a little quicker than the Blackberry World Edition.

Cons: Slow baby slow.  Navigating between programs or menus can take a couple seconds.  It’s not the instant response you are used to with other Blackberry devices.  The accelerometer seems to hang a little bit.  When turning from portrait to landscape, it can take am moment for the screen to change.  Some have reported that the whole phone can crash from time to time.

Final thoughts: Overall, it is a step in the right direction for all smartphones.  There’s still some work that needs to be done.  While Blackberry doesn’t have a snazzy update interface like iTunes, firmware updates are available that start to address some of the bugs.
